Carles Alena signs new three-year Barcelona deal with €75m release clause.

Barcelona have confirmed that midfielder Carles Alena has signed his new three-year contract extension and that it contains a release clause of €75 million.
The club confirmed they had agreed the extension with Alena all the way back in June, but they have actually managed to get him to pen to paper now and it’s all official.
Contract extensions are the talk of Barcelona at the moment with Lionel Messi’s all agreed, apparently, although unlike Alena, the club have yet to actually get him to sign the thing.
Andres Iniesta’s is also agreed “in principle” according to Josep Maria Bartomeu, or not at all, according to the player himself.

Barcelona consider new approach to try and land Verratti?

Thought you’d heard the last of the Marco Verratti to Barcelona  saga? Well think again, because it seems this one still has plenty left to run, with the latest reports claiming a change of approach from Barca. Instead of simply offering Paris Saint-Germain a huge amount of money for their midfielder, Sport claim Barca could instead offer cash plus a certain Ivan Rakitic. They even go so far as to say that while PSG want €100m for Verratti, they would also be willing to accept €70m plus Rakitic. Why Rakitic you ask? Well, Unai Emery is a big fan of the midfielder, having worked with him at Sevilla,  and will demand a replacement should Verratti go. But wait, hang on, according to Sport there’s another important factor in this deal and that’s none other than Kylian Mbappe. Barca agree deal for Gremio’s Arthur.

Barcelona have a reached an agreement in principle with Brazilian club Gremio to sign midfielder Arthur next year in a deal worth up to 40 million euros ($49.2 million), according to reports in Spain on Wednesday. “FC Barcelona have taken an almost definitive step to seal the recruitment of Arthur,” wrote Catalan daily Sport, who reported the transfer fee would be 30 million euros with a further 10 million in bonuses. Mundo Deportivo claimed Barca director of football Robert Fernandez went to Porto Alegre “to seal the transfer of Arthur, with whom the club have reached a deal starting from January 2019”. The 21-year-old is expected to arrive during next season’s winter transfer window, although Madrid-based Marca suggested he could join the club this summer if Barca reduce the number of non-EU players in their squad.
